A workshop production of this multi-media performance by collision/theory appeared at Highways Performance Space in July 2010, as part of the LA Opera Ring Festival.

The project is a finalist in the South By Southwest Interactive Awards for the Technical Achievement Category.

Dream Sequence received a Garland Award from Backstage West Magazine in Multimedia/Digital Design for their anime style projection design.This sold out show was written and created by Eric Whitacre, directed by Michael Michetti and produced by The Theatre @ Boston Court.

In July 2010, collision/theory and Highways Performance Space co-presented a workshop version of Blood Red Lost Head Dead Falcon: THE NIBELUNGEN, as part of the Los Angeles Ring Festival.  A tale of magic, love, loyalty and revenge, the piece was inspired by Das Nibelungenlied, the 800 year-old epic poem that was the basis for Wagner’s four-opera drama The Ring of the Nibelung. Blood Red deconstructed the original source material in a richly layered modern theatrical experience laden with visual and aural imagery.  Michael Manning’s illustrated graphic novel The Nibelungen (Sum Legio International, 2010) served as a primary visual inspiration for the piece, which was written and directed by Aaron Henne.

In Lyn Gaza’s photo series Beyond Glass, she uses the metaphor of transparency to blur the relationship between the internal and external life of the individual. By placing a layer of diffusion between the viewer and the figure, an impression of seeing through what is usually on the surface is created. This device forms a new context for the body to be wrapped in, a method for seeing under the skin, exposing the psychological reality that is usually hidden from the outside world. These photos provided inspiration for some of the imagery in Blood Red Lost Head Dead Falcon:  The Nibelungen. Artist Oilly Oowen collaborated with modeling expertise.

During the genre reveal, the TV “comes to life” and a cg animated movie showing the genre taking over the room plays.  Users are able to invite friends to a viewing party using email or Facebook.  For more information click here.
